How Direct Medical Resolutions Works

Working with Direct Medical Resolutions couldn’t be easier. You provide some basic information, we summarize, reach out to the physician, and start the negotiation process. If a settlement can be reached, both sides sign documents, and payment is made directly to the patient. Negotiations can start in days, payouts made in weeks and there is NEVER any fee to patients.

How It Works

Step 1: Submit a Private Case Review

Just complete the form. Tell us what happened, when it happened, where the medical care occurred, and what doctor(s) performed the care. It’s very simple. We don’t need medical records at this point, just the basic information.

Step 2: We Review for Case Qualification and Next Steps

Within days, we tell you whether your case qualifies for direct negotiation and potential quick financial resolution, and what information is needed to proceed.

Step 3: Records and Key Facts

If your case qualifies, we request only what is necessary to evaluate the case and negotiate directly with the doctor. No fishing. No unnecessary disclosure. Unlike court cases where your information and details can become publicly accessible, all information is confidential and used for negotiation. Then it’s destroyed or returned to you. We DO NOT retain patient medical records.

Step 4: Physician Outreach

We contact the physician side and determine whether early financial resolution discussions can proceed. Participation is not automatic, but when it is possible, it moves quickly. Most physicians welcome the opportunity to negotiate a settlement directly instead of involving medical malpractice insurance carriers.

Step 5: Resolution Conference

A confidential resolution discussion is scheduled.

The focus is direct:

  • What happened?

  • What is a reasonable settlement award?

  • What it would take to close the matter now?

We prepare the proposed resolution and present it to the patient. If there is back-and-forth, we manage the negotiations until the parties either reach an agreed number or determine that resolution is not possible. If no agreement is possible, patients are always free to return to the traditional route and file a medical malpractice claim.

Step 6: Agreement in Writing

If the parties reach a financial resolution, the terms are confirmed in a written agreement that both parties sign.

Step 7: Payment and Closure

Once both parties sign the agreement, payment is made promptly, often within days, directly to the patient under the agreed terms. Then the case is closed.
